Ingredients:
6 cups apple chunks, peeled
2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter, margarine or oil, melted
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup water
Topping Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300F.
Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Add butter, eggs and water. Mix well
Pour batter over apples and mix gently.
Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking dish or 9-inch round casserole.
Sprinkle brown sugar and walnuts over top.
Bake for 60 to 90 minutes or until the center is set.
Cool. Makes 12 servings.
