PEACH JAM BREAD

1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
3/4 c. peach jam
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. buttermilk

Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon
and nutmeg.  Set aside. In large mixer bowl, beat the
sugar and shortening on high speed till light and
fluffy.  Beat in the eggs one at a time, beating 1
minute after each.  Add peach jam and vanilla.  Mix
well.  Add nuts to flour mixture.  Add this flour
mixture, beating well after each addition.  Pour batter
into greased and floured 10 1/2x4x2 loaf pan.  Bake at
350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick
inserted in middle comes out clean.  Cool in pan 10
minutes. Remove from pan, cool on wire rack.
